Dear Creativity...wished for then...promising now

Dear Creativity,

Two years ago, I wrote you a letter.
It was the day The Innovation Doctor opened its doors.

I promised you I would help professionals see that creativity isn’t reserved for tech companies or design firms.
I dreamed of inclusive communities, playful innovation, and the joy of watching people discover their creative superpowers.
I said yes to sharing my stories, my secrets, and my spark.
I asked you to walk with me.

And of course — you did.

Today, I look around and see how much has unfolded in just two years.
A vibrant community in The Hatchery.
Idea networking sessions tapping into my background as a computer scientist. Yes, we talk to my rubber duck!
The relaunch of my YouTube channel to The Hatch Studio.
Workshops, masterclasses, and courses that have touched people I hadn’t even met yet when I wrote that first letter.

And perhaps the most significant shift of all is the clarity that my path isn’t just about sparking creativity. It’s about helping women entrepreneurs and multipassionates hatch their early-stage ideas into life.
Not someday. Not perfectly. But now.

You’ve had your hand in all of this, haven’t you?
Guiding me from sparks to incubators, from play to purpose, from a single open door to a quest: to help hatch one million ideas with the help of my friends, Feedback and Idea.

So here’s my new promise for the year to come:

I promise to keep creating spaces where ideas feel safe enough to emerge, yet bold enough to grow.
I promise to keep reminding people that their dreams don’t have to wait for perfect conditions.
I promise to keep showing what’s possible when we listen for your whisper, and then dare to say yes.

My hope for everyone I serve is that they leave my work feeling braver, lighter, and more alive.
That they not only hatch an idea, but also rediscover the joy of being someone who creates.
Because if we can each take one idea from spark to action, we’ll change not just our lives, but the world around us.

Two years ago, I embraced the title, The Innovation Doctor.
Today, I recommit to looking in the mirror and acknowledging the black unicorn that I am.
A rare creature who makes magic out of possibility.
And you, Creativity, are the one who taught me how.

So thank you for every nudge, every whisper, every reminder to trust the magic and take the step.
I can’t wait to see what we hatch together next.

Sending my love and admiration. 😘

Innovatively yours,
Dr. Abigail

Dear Creativity, Today I’ve been thinking about perspective and the permission we give ourselves to push against the status quo and think differently. You know me well, Creativity. I live in both the linear, logical realm and the free-flowing creative one. Most days, these worlds complement each other beautifully. Until they don’t. When it comes to priorities and task management, I want the structure, and I don’t want the structure. I crave a system… until it boxes me in. That’s when I...

Dear Creativity, It almost feels like you’ve been in two places at once. Here with me in my home office/creative studio, tuning into Speak & Write on my screen… and in San Diego, where Lisa Nichols and her team of speakers have been dropping golden nuggets of wisdom for the past two days. Last year, I was fortunate enough to attend in person. The energy, the buzz in the hallways, the inspiration spilling out around every corner — it was electrifying. This year, hunkered down at my desk, I...

Dear Creativity, I know you have watched me grow my creative toolkit, that little collection of tools I keep within reach—my bullet journal, colorful pens, calming scents, and small reminders that creativity is magical. It’s not just about pretty things. These are the items that help me listen to you, Creativity, and turn ideas into something real. My tools for hatching ideas. I was taking notes from a course I’m in on developing clear customer paths— the kind that guide people from first...
