🎙️ Are you dancing with AI?

Hey Reader,

I needed a logo for a new high-end offering, and the process became a powerful experiment in modern creativity. I want to share the story of my new favorite creative partner. More in this week's lab notes.

Dear Creativity,

I found myself needing a logo for a new offer—one that could capture luxury, the bridge between the Lab and the Studio, and a sense of childlike wonder. It was a tall order.

So, I assembled my Creative Team. First, I went to AI to brainstorm concepts. Then I consulted with you for wisdom and guidance. With a clear text prompt, I went to my Canva AI partner, and we began the dance. It delivered options, and I kept refining, guiding, and manipulating.

This is the partnership I think we often sell short. If we approach AI as a true collaborator, it can be the very tool that takes the idea from our head and brings it to life. It gave me the foundation, and I shaped it to serve my vision.

There was just as much thought and deliberation as in anything I create. It was the Lab and the Studio, working together in perfect harmony.

What brilliant idea is waiting for you to invite a new kind of creative partner into the dance?

Innovatively yours,
Dr. Abigail đź’›

The Computer Science Teachers Association from 2016 to today is captured on pages in my "junk journal". Dear Creativity, I've finally found my meditative activity: junk journaling. It started with the guilt of holding on to piles of beautiful stickers. I didn't have the conviction to commit them to a...

Hey Reader, This week, a creative practice I learned 20 years ago and left behind came roaring back to life. It arrived at the exact moment I needed it most. More in this week's lab notes. Connecting to digital storytelling in Canva. The Idea Studio Residency coming to life. Dear Creativity, About 20 years ago, I fell in love with digital storytelling. I learned the craft—the voiceover, the photos, the magic of the Ken Burns effect—and brought it into my classroom, where it built a powerful...

Hey Reader, I recently started a 28-day sketchbook challenge, and immediately hit a wall that had nothing to do with drawing. It was a powerful reminder of how we can get in our own way. More in this week's lab notes. A tiny sketch of my snake plant that is giving life, no matter how much I ignore it. Dear Creativity, I started a tiny sketchbook challenge this month—just 10 minutes of drawing a day. But before I even began, the multipassionate perfectionism set in. Which notebook should I...
